Participants will gain in-depth understanding of legal requirements, advanced hitch configurations, load dynamics, and thorough inspection protocols to perform their duties with maximum safety and competency.

Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the legal provisions and standards governing lifting operations.
  • Identify the effect of hitches and angles on sling capacities in various lifting scenarios.
  • Conduct pre-use inspections of lifting gear and apply strict rejection criteria.
  • Execute their duties effectively and safely as a competent advanced-level rigger.

Course Prerequisite:
To be eligible for this advanced course, participants must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be capable of reading and understanding the English language.
  • Hold a basic Rigging and Slinging (Rigger I) certificate.
  • Possess decent prior knowledge of cranes and fundamental lifting operations.

  • Pre-use inspection techniques for all lifting accessories
  • Comprehensive rejection criteria

Module 3: Advanced Techniques & Calculations

  • Types of lifting hitches and their applications
  • Understanding sling angles and their critical effect on load capacity
  • Determining the safe working load (SWL) based on configuration
  • Overview and inspection of equipment:
    • Shackles, eye bolts, and hooks
    • Chain blocks and turnbuckles
